Jena Parsons: A Little Something About Me
Hello! My name is Jena Parsons and I'm a student at Illinois State University. I'm currently studying Learning and Behavioral (LBS I) Special Education and have an extensive background in working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Ever since I was little I always loved the idea of being a teacher. I love being around people and helping them to reach their goals so teaching has always seemed like the perfect fit for me.
I believe that every child has the to capacity to learn and that it’s my responsibility as a teacher to see it through. The more challenges a student faces in their education, the more a teacher should be working to ensure that student’s educational needs are met. As a special educator many of the students I will be working with will have challenges and obstacles in their learning. It takes determination, creativity, collaboration, a belief that every student can succeed, and an understanding of educational theory to ensure these students obtain the best possible education. It is my intent to provide this for my students by creating a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which my students can grow emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually.
